More Obama Doublespeak Regarding Torture and the Rule of Law

President Obama gave a speech this past Thursday filled with enough doublespeak as it relates to the rule of law and torture to make Mr. O’Brien proud.

Obama thus proves yet again, holding a degree in Constitutional Law does not necessarily equate to a love or respect for the Constitution. Unfortunately, in this case, it seems to only serve as a road map to its circumvention.

Vince Warren, the executive director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, took part in a secret meeting Wednesday between Obama and several human rights groups. The following day Warren says he was “deeply, deeply shocked” in Obama’s new support for preventive detention, a subject that never came up in the secret meeting. “We didn’t discuss preventive detention. And I think what’s interesting about it is, for most people in the room, I suspect that that wasn’t even something that anybody was contemplating or really could conceive of.  [transcript]

While the Left is starting to wake-up to The Obama Deception, those on the Right can now see that the issue is bigger than Obama wanting to seize our guns. He is calling for a new “legal regime” that can seize our very bodies, litterally throwing people into detention based on a fear they might be a future enemy of the state–without any evidence of a crime whatsoever.

This is the best article I’ve seen yet outlining the threat to both firearms possession and now, ‘preventative detention’ of suspected or potential terrorists. Another good read is Glenn Greenwald’s blog:  Facts and myths about Obama’s preventive detention proposal.
